If you’re considering liposuction to help tone and sculpt your body, you’ll probably have a few questions. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we are asked here at our Dubai clinic, and if there’s anything else you need to know, don’t hesitate to ask!

What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves removing excess fat deposits by sucking them from the area between skin and muscle.  A small incision is made in the skin, into which a tiny cannula is placed. A sterile solution is then injected to break down fatty deposits and enable them to be sucked out with a special machine.

Is it expensive?
The cost of liposuction varies according to what area is being worked on and how much fat needs to be removed. Your surgeon will provide you with a detailed cost before the day of your treatment.

Who is a good candidate for liposuction?
If you are in good overall health and have realistic expectations of what you want to achieve from liposuction, you will likely be considered to be a suitable candidate.

Will I always be skinny after liposuction?
Your doctor will discuss your desired results in detail and tell you what you can expect your figure to look like after the procedure. As a general rule, the effects are long lasting because fat cells do not grow back. However, you should not take this as an opportunity to overeat and stop exercise – if you abuse your body, the effects of liposuction cannot be expected to last forever!

Which areas can be treated by liposuction?
Liposuction can be used on any area where there are excessive fat deposits, but the most common areas are tummy, breasts, thighs, buttocks, back, “love handles”, neck and hips.

Are there any risks?
Any surgical procedure carries a certain amount of risk, but if you choose a certified medical practitioner with plenty of experience and excellent reviews it is actually a very safe procedure these days. It is also essential that you follow your doctor’s advice after the procedure and get plenty of rest.

How long is the recovery time?
This varies depending on whether you have local or general anaesthesia, but in most cases you should be able to return to light work after two or three days. You should expect to experience some soreness and swelling at the site of the incisions for a few days, but this can be managed with normal painkillers. There may be some tenderness in the region for a few weeks. Your surgeon will discuss pain management and prognosis with you both during your consultation and immediately after the procedure.

Will it leave a scar?
As modern liposuction is performed using very small canulas, the incisions are tiny and do not usually leave scars. However, if your skin is particularly prone to scarring you may be left with a small mark.

Is liposuction a good way to manage obesity?
No – liposuction is a treatment that deals with the symptom obesity, not the cause. It should never be seen as an alternative to diet and exercise, and we always recommend seeking medical advice to establish the cause of your weight gain before undergoing any major procedure.

We have been successfully performing liposuction for many years, so if you are looking for a safe, comfortable and expert clinic in Dubai we will be delighted to meet you. Contact us today to book a consultation
